Job Description:

Oxbow Calcining LLC is currently looking to hire an Automation Engineer to join our team in Enid, OK. This position will be responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance for the automation and control systems for a petroleum coke calcining plant. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting production and executing corporate vision on all applicable standards and policies. Create new programming, troubleshoot network systems, in addition to developing system improvements and supporting reliability initiatives.

Position Description:

  • Comply with all of Oxbow’s Health & Safety Practices.
  • Maintain safe work practices and environment by proper planning, identifying risks, and eliminating/mitigating hazards.
  • Proficient knowledge base of analyzing and generating drawings, schematics, P&ID, and related wiring or equipment diagrams for control systems.
  • Allen Bradley PLC-5, MicroLogix, CompactLogix, and ControlLogix processor experience is required.
  • Allen Bradley HMI- FactoryTalk, PanelView, and related interfacing software experience is required.
  • Support Installation, testing, such as flow meters, pressure transducers, temperature transmitters, and scale integrators.
  • Efficiency in managing projects through proper planning, budgeting, and labor support efforts.
  • Mentors supporting staff members for skill development and continued education initiatives
  • Attending periodic training opportunities for skill development.
  • Maintains an organized and clear workspace.
  • Works with state and federal regulation agencies on compliance, regulation changes, current and upcoming events.
  • Ensures that the work areas, equipment, and work practices are in compliance with the regulatory codes, statues, and company requirements.
  • Supports management with special projects and workflow process improvements and other duties as assigned.
  • Support Oxbow’s Corporate Automation standardization program and Industry 4.0 initiative.
  • Actively participate in plant health & safety processes, including safety committees, health & safety inspections, safety meetings/toolbox talks, job safety analysis (JSAs), incident/near miss investigations, and formal monthly safety training.



Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma, 2+ years of trade or technology education, and 2+ years of relevant experience, or Associates degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Visio, or other relevant drafting software preferred.
  • Be aware and comply with all health and safety rules and requirements applicable to their work and to the general safety of other employee’s.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings and styles.
  • Establishes goals and objectives which are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely.
  • Working knowledge of Allen Bradley family of hardware and software.
  • Working knowledge of both I.T. and O.T. systems.
  • Working knowledge in the use of computer aided design software.
  • Troubleshooting and repair of complex automated systems.
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge base of single and three phase electrical systems.



Physical and Other Requirements:

  • Typically sits or stands for extended amount of time in front of a computer.
  • Works in plant environment, which may include extreme working conditions and inclement weather conditions.
  • As needed, lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate to impart information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed instructions to other workers.
  • Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
  • Must be able to travel as needed.
