Job Description: 

Oxbow Energy Solutions LLC is currently looking for a Maintenance Mechanic to join our team in Texas City. Oxbow’s primary businesses are the mining and marketing of energy and commodities such as coal, natural gas, petroleum coke and calcined coke. Oxbow delivers management excellence, a commitment to success and the resources and experience to develop effective solutions to our customers’ energy and bulk material needs.

Position Summary:
Maintenance Mechanic Class 1 job duties will include repairs, modifications, and installations to the needs of our terminal. Some of the equipment a Maintenance Mechanic Class 1 will be working on will be Dozers, Front End Loaders, Conveyor Systems, Pumps, etc.

Essential Job Duties:
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on various types of heavy construction equipment, such as Dozers, Front End Loaders, Excavators, Tractors, etc.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on various types of conveyor systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on various types of fluid pumps.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on various types of Terminal equipment, such as a Ship Loader, Gangway, Hoppers, etc.
• Inspect, Troubleshoot, and Complete Work Order Repairs with very little Supervisory oversite.
• Complete Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) Work Orders with very little Supervisory oversite.
• Perform duties in a safe manner in conjunction with the rules and regulations set forth by Oxbow Energy Solutions, Texas City Terminal.
• Help design, construct, and install mechanical equipment and systems.
• Conduct activities in a safe and healthy manner and work in accordance with established safety and company requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Lay out work in a well-planned and organized manner.
• Ability to work with engineering drawings, blueprints, and sketches.
• Ability to use straightedges, combination squares, calipers and rulers.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
• Detail oriented, with a strong sense of time management.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Ability, on a consistent basis, to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time.
• Have a well versed background in mechanical and welding.
• The ability to express thoughts clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Display good judgments by ones decision making process.
• Self – motivated
• Must possess or be eligible for a TWIC card
• Must be able to read and write in English

Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Certification in Industrial Welding, Heavy Equipment, or both preferred.
• Two or more years of experience working in mechanical maintenance industry, welding, or both preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Typically on the move throughout shift, walking, climbing, crouching, kneeling, etc.
• As needed, lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions heavy objects. Mechanical lifting assistance may be used for some of the heavy objects.
