Job Description: 

Manages all aspects of the plant shipping and coke handling activities to ensure meeting established contracts, quality and product shipment goals. Directs hourly operations personnel within the plant helper driver and utility person classifications to facilitate efficient plant operations including scheduling, raw material staging, barge, railcar and truck loading per customer orders. This position will be responsible for the coordination of all operational maintenance activities.

Essential Job Duties:
• Manages all facility operations to ensure shipment goals, quality specifications and injury and incident free operations are maintained.
• Manages all green coke handling operations including loading activities, mobile equipment maintenance and barge dock maintenance to ensure established shipping schedules are met.
• Troubleshoots process problems to determine root cause. Develops and implements corrective actions to support reliable and efficient operations.
• Supports facility safety and health programs.
• Manages as aspects of employee training up to and including equipment operations, operations and maintenance tasks, and health and safety.
• Coordinates plant operations with CITGO Refinery requirements for petcoke handling, storage, as well as plant utilities. Assists Plant Manager with managing all aspects of the petroleum coke handling agreement with the CITGO Refinery, up to and including ongoing execution as well as contract renewal and negotiation.
• Participates in incident investigations concerning accidents/safety violations, ensures safe work practices are followed.
• Identifies and solves problems and creates substantial improvements to enhance the overall operation and execution of the green petroleum coke handling agreement.
• Supports management with special projects and workflow process improvements and other duties as assigned.
• Supports Plant Manager with Union contract negotiations and ongoing labor activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Communicates clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings and styles. Effectively tailors the message to the needs of the audience.
• Establishes goals and objectives which are specific, measurable, achievable and relevant.
• Lays out work in a well-planned and organized manner.
• In depth knowledge of the petroleum coke handling process and computer skills / familiar with MS Office applications.

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor Degree preferred.
• Relevant work experience, including supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
• Experience with bulk handling systems and mobile equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Typically sits or stands for extended amount of time in front of a computer.
• As needed, lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
• May be required to move about to coordinate work.
• Ability to communicate or exchange ideas by means of verbal or written word to impart information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed instructions to other workers.
• Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
• Must be able to travel as needed.
