Logistics Optimization Analyst

Job Description: 

Summary:
Responsible for planning and optimization of West Coast Business Analysis, specifically Petroleum Coke and Coal.

Essential Job Duties:
• Manages Linear Program (LP) independently and compares commercial’s LP.
• Determines specific product for vessel loading based on economics, quality and supply.
• Prepares stockpile plan to optimize blending and future vessel loadings.
• Determines best vessel loading plan to reduce stevedoring cost.
• Partners with Logistics Director to facilitate a team effort to maximize profitability.
• Identifies and performs analysis on all processes.
• Handles independent analysis for best value/optimization as it relates to:
-GP optimization
-Lowest cost vessel loading
-Dispatch optimization
-Demurrage reduction
• Manages comparison of the commercial and operations LP analysis.
• Generates vessel reports of economic results per both LP’s.
• Establishes KPIs to measure loading performance and create associated reports.
• Supports management with special projects and workflow process improvements and other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:
• Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Management or similar field required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of logistics and financial analysis experience is required.
• Experience with trading and selling petroleum coke preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and work ethic including a passion for understanding root-cause and the appropriate countermeasures and/or corrective measures to permanently resolve issues.
• Strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Excel.

Physical Requirements:
• Typically sits or stands for extended amount of time in front of a computer.
• As needed, lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
• May be required to move about to coordinate work.
• Ability to communicate or exchange ideas by means of verbal or written word to impart information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed Instructions to other workers.
• Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
• Must be able to travel as needed.
