Job Description: 


This position is responsible for the programming and continual maintenance of the plant control systems (Programmable Automation Controllers, HMI’s, instrumentation and Control Network Media) as well as the plant electrical system.

Essential Job Duties:
• Responsible for maintaining existing plant control system and the integration of new equipment and programming.
• Responsible for investigating existing equipment's worthiness, and the investigation of new ideas and equipment.
• Responsible for full compliance to all federal and state regulations that these systems impact with regards to safety and environmental compliance.
• Strives to obtain optimal electrical, instrumentation and control systems and procedures necessary to optimize the process operations.
• Tests and documents changes in existing automation and new equipment as installed.
• Ensures that the work areas, equipment, and work practices are in compliance with the regulatory codes, statues, and company requirements.
• Supports management with special projects and workflow process improvements and other duties as assigned.
• Assists with the planning and implementation of the electrical and control system portions of Capital Improvement Projects plans.
• Supports and mentors maintenance personnel with troubleshooting in day to day operation.
• Follows state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code
• Provides project oversight and quality assurance inspections to ensure construction work complies with contract documents, safety requirements, and schedule and budget requirements.
• Demonstrate commitment to positive and respectful workplace environment by leading, acting and behaving in a professional manner.
• Work with the facility maintenance team to complete all aspects of facility maintenance and improvements.
• Must be willing and able to work in a multi-craft environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Demonstrates the ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and program PAC’s, PLC’s and HMI's (preferably Allen-Bradley using RSLogix 5, 500 and 5000 software. Support all communication protocols within the control network. (Ethernet, DH+)
• Ability to maintain and troubleshoot Control Room HMI Operator Stations and implement new displays following Oxbow Guidelines.
• Knowledge of various types of feedback devices both analog and discrete. Functional knowledge of motors, AC and DC drives (Allen-Bradley, Yaskawa, etc.) and methods for control of VFD’s, both hardwire and communication, Ability to integrate motor controls using the Oxbow Standard for control.
• Communicates clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings and styles.
• Establishes goals and objectives which are specific, measurable, achievable and relevant.
• Lays out work in a well-planned and organized manner.
• Read blueprints or technical diagrams before doing work
• Install and maintain wiring and lighting systems, Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers
• Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices
• Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools
• Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment
• Perform a number of duties to ensure proper maintenance and testing of wiring systems
• Ensure that both preventative and general maintenance tasks are carried out
• Produce Electrical Design drawings in AutoCAD format
• Demonstrated dependability & technical problem solving/trouble shooting abilities to be capable of troubleshooting circuits, as well as reading and working from wiring diagrams, schematics and building plans.
• Must be able to work pre-scheduled shutdowns, after normal business hours as required, including some weekends. Also be able to work overtime including weekends and evening as necessary.

Education and Experience:
• Associate Degree or equivalent experience in instrumentation.
• Two years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.

Physical Requirements:
• Typically works in a plant environment, which may include extreme working conditions and inclement weather conditions.
• As needed, lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces and in elevated work areas.
• Must be able to handle working with petroleum coke products.
• Must be able to work with wrenches, pipe wrenches and other tools; requires turning and tightening nuts and bolts.
• Must be able to use digital multi-meters, calibrators, analog test equipment.
• Must be able to load and unload heavy equipment, either with manual labor or by operating heavy machinery.
• Must be able to pass general physically fit testing.
• Must train in safety and hazmat requirements at the facility.
• Must be required to move about to coordinate work.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Ability to communicate or exchange ideas by means of verbal or written word to impart information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed Instructions to other workers.
• Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
Must be able to travel as needed.
